The Story of Red Riding Hood.
Well this is more a journey into how i interrupted Red Riding Hood for a new painting / illustration.
Come along with me as i share my illustration process.
The Tools of My trade.
I always start with sketching out initial ideas, using cheap computer paper.
My first idea's are usually the ones i come back to and the sketching process for me is almost the most important part.
The character is the first element of the painting that i create, once i am happy with the character it helps me to see a clearer picture of the illustration.
Red Riding Hood was painted a few times until i was happy with this one. She is a little cheeky and cute looking which is how i wanted her to be.
Painting elements of the picture is such fun - This is Grandma's House.
Here is the hungry wolf ! I think he is rather too cute to be a big bad wolf !
Building up the painting. This takes the longest for me, i find myself rearranging, obsessing, getting up in the middle of the night to work on a detail.
Once that process i call "faffing" is over ;)
The original appears.
Little Red Riding Hood.
I hope your enjoyed this little journey into my
I would love to hear what fairy tales you would like to see me paint and illustrate ?
