Hello
Does it feel all a little strange with December almost upon us and the year has once more whizzed past?
It's been a year jam packed full of art adventures for me, a process i feel i am still going through.
Right now i feel the urge to paint just for myself.
Recently i created this painting
"Stars Can't Shine Without Darkness"
This Clown girl has headed off to Australia to live.
I know my clown Girls are like Marmite, but i wanted to share this with you.
My clown girls express a sadder side, something a little deeper than the Happy Art i often create.
Right now i am taking a step back from Etsy Shop although my shop will be open, i won't be creating anything new until the New Year.
I want to just paint, explore the idea of more grown up versions of my characters, work on my animal characters ( i have a lion shaping up from my sketches) and have a bit more fun with my pencil and sketchbook.
Thank you for stopping by my Blog.
It would be great to hear from you.
What Christmas Plans do you Have ?
Love or Hate Marmite ? ( Like Vegemite )
Do you feel happiest when your are creating Just For Yourself ?

I Love your clowns and I love marmite too, and I am right there with you in the painting for myself right now, I am kinda sick of painting stuff to sell and want to keep some of the goodness for myself ;o)
Hi Micki !
Am so glad you love the clowns and Marmite too !
Yep i am sick of painting for Etsy for me i feel i get too bogged down in it all, right now i need to be free and surround myself with paint sketches and just have fun.
Thanks for stopping by.
Your clowns are beautiful and I love marmite.
The whole reason I gave up selling was it became too much and I just wanted to create for myself.
Maybe one day I'll return to it, who knows but at the moment i'm just having fun and playing around doodling which is something very different to what I'm used to.
Beki xx
Hi Beki, create for yourself is so important as is having fun and play, great things can be discovered along the way as well. great to see you here . xx
and thanks for your comments of my clown...*High Fives* fellow Marmite lover. x
I love painting for me and to sell, maybe because I always paint for me! LOL! Know what I mean? Unless it is a special order, I truly paint what I feel inside. Don't know if that's right or not? Sometimes, when I finish a painting, it doesn't go in my Etsy store! I love your clowns and I love Marmite too ;o) Hugs ;o)
I don't like clowns actually, but I loved your version and the title " Stars can't shine without darkness is brilliant :)) xx
Hi Magic crow, i can see how you love to paint through your art, i don't think there is a right or wrong way, painting what you feel inside now thats magical and the true spirit of creativity i think.
zdreams Hi ! and thanks for stopping by, the title of my painting is one of my favourite quotes, its speaks to me. and thanks for your comments.
Hi Heidi, it's fun reading your and Micki's comments. I don't have this problem at all as I'm just starting out and barely have Etsy audience. I guess this frees me up to do whatever I like in some way. :)
I'm always happiest when I'm creating for myself. Sometimes it's best to just sequester myself and paint up a storm of whatever *I* want. It's been so long since I have done that though. The Christmas stuff is generally for me right now, I don't know if it will sell but a huge part of me doesn't care because it's fun. It's like baking cookies without the calories to worry about!
Create for you!
Would you believe I've never tried Marmite or Vegemite? I've heard it's either a love or hate kinda thing...haha!
I'm still in shop mode, trying to get as much stuff in there as I can....but, I haven't painted in a while. I'm looking forward to doing more of that in the weeks at and after Christmas when all pressure of selling is off...
I think clowns need to be sad sometimes :P
Hi Lucy, great to see you stop by. I think the freer you are the better the art, and you art is beautiful.
Hi Kyra
I am trying the whole create for me and i feel it's really working.
I just love what you said - It's like baking cookies without the calories to worry about!
I shall remember that. thank you x
Loving your Christmas Snowmen by the way.
Hi Cameron
Do they sell Marmite in the US, you may like it ? so many people scrunch there nose up at it, i adore it on toast.
I hope you have fun getting back to painting.
LOL. Marmite brings back plenty of childhood memories for me! I lived in the UK until about 17, and I was the only one in my family that liked it. LOVED it, in fact. My sister said it smelt like feet! Me? I had it with bread almost everyday. :))
I think your clown girls are so cute with just a hint of that lovable creepiness. Now, who wouldn't love that?
Have fun painting for yourself! We all need it. XOXO
I love the little McDonalds girl :)
